hello community

can anyone kindly enlighten me on how to use the keyboard keys to create the
Word keys, example:

If I want the have Word document display the picture of "Alt" or perhaps
"Spacebar", I jus need to press some keys simultaneously.

I did once before but I forgotten which few keys to press simultaneously ?

anyone can help me ?

Thanks for the help community

There is nothing built into Word that will do this, but if you have a
keyboard font (such as Keycaps, Keyboard, Keystroke, etc.) installed, you
can use Insert | Symbol to insert the appropriate character.

hello Suzanne S. Barnhill

thanks for the info and I was wrong in how to describe what I wanted, and I
just found out that what I am referring to is - AutoText Entry -

it is like, (not very good in explaination, kindly forgive me), when I type
the text, "Enter", and when I select the word, "Enter" and press the F3 key,
the text change into a picture, and the text "Enter" still appeared but with
a rectangle outline drawn around it.

now, I had found out how to get what I wanted, but now, can anyone tell me
if I wanted to create other type of keys, like say "Esc" or maybe "F4", how
am I to do it?

I had tried adding "Esc" into the AutoText panel and when I select the "Esc"
and press F3, nothing happen ?

I believe I need to do extra steps to get it right, therefore, can help me
on this ?

thanks for the kind assistance

Although you can save such "pictures" as AutoText entries, you must still
either create them as graphics or insert them as font characters to begin
with. To do the latter, you must install a font that contains such
characters. For example, see http://www.elfring.com/keycaps.htm
(expensive!), http://www.newfonts.net/index.php?pa=show_font&id=111 (free),
http://www.webpagepublicity.com/free-fonts-k.html (Keycaps),
http://www.paratype.com/btstore/fonts/Keycaps.htm, etc.

dear Suzanne S. Barnhill

thank you and much appreciated for all the info that you replied.

Now I clearly understand how the KeyCaps are being displayed out and
Yes!...there are software to create such Picture for the keybaord.

what I can do now is to create myself, via some graphic software .

thanks !
