Print Job notification not showing

I'm aware that this subject has been discussed multiple times but I
have not seen a post with a working fix.

I have an XP sp 2 machine with firewall enabled and file and print
sharing exception checked. I still do not get a print job
notification. I've removed and added the registry entries for balloon
notification remote and local. The thing that really makes this
confusing is that my machine is XP sp 2 and I get the notifications
with the firewall turned on and file and print sharing exception
checked.

I really don't want to turn off the firewall simply so users can see
print notifications.

Any help would be great.

Check the printer properties settings under Advanced and configuration.
It depends on the type of printer you have whether this feature can be
manually set or adjusted.
