Print event id 6161

One of my users has an HP laserjet connected to her PC and I have spent all
afternoon trying to troubleshoot the problem. It is creating event id 6161
errors in her event viewer.

I looked at the KB document 824339, but the error isn't worded that way, and
it refers to event id 61 instead of 6161, but then goes into saying after
hotfix is installed will get 6161 which tells further what the problem is. I
haven't installed any hotfixes, and am not sure the one in the KB is going to
be any help.

The exact wording of the message is: The description for event id (6161) in
source (Print) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the
necessary registry information message DLL files to display messages from a
remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE = flag to retrieve
this description; see help and support for details. The following
information is part of the event outbind://9-, then it gives what looks to be
a registry key, username, HPLaserJet 2200 Serie, computer name, 2 (0x2).

If anyone can please help me out with this it would really be appreciated.

I've tried all things mentioned in the forum you sent me too and none of this
worked.

One thing worth mentioning is the fact that Ports (COM & LPT) aren't showing
up in the device manager.
