BIOS will report on the number of IDE device it locates. Up to a maximum of 4 can be installed

They are generally shown as
Primary Maste
Primary Slav
Seconbdary Maste
Secondary Slav

You will find only IDE Hard Drives, CD or other optical storage devices and writers listed here.
