Previous Version of McAfee from Windows 98 Plus

I cannot install new McAfee due to a error message
explaining that I have a previous version from Windows 98
Plus.

I am unable to locate this previous version using the
control panel function or by serching for key words
supplied by McAfee tech support.

Help, my computer keeps turning off everytime I log on to
the web. I am sure that I am experiecing some virus
attack.
