Previewing pictures and movie clips NOT working??

Hi,
Can someone help me?? I'm on kind of a time crunch here but it seems as
though I can't preview any of the files (pictures and movie clips) that I add
onto the timeline? Every time I want to play it back..the screen goes
black/blank and nothing shows up? What's the deal?

Please help!!!

I think your missing codecs if its not that then I don't know.
