How can I prevent WinXPpro to restore an open window upon
restart ?

After installing a program a few days ago, an explorer-
window appears all the time after booting, showing the
same folder.

I've already checked startup-folders, msconfig etc..

Thanks
Luk

Dear Doug,

The nam of the folder is:
C:\Program Files\iolo\System Mechanic

It started after installing System Mechanic 4.0 ( of
Iolo )

Thanks for your help
Luk

Ok, the problem is likely an entry in the Registry that uses a long file
name, or path, that isn't enclosed in quotes. Click Start, Run and enter
REGEDIT Go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

and

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Look in each of the above keys for a value that is trying to load something
from this folder. If you find one that uses long file names or paths
(spaces in the name), make sure it has quote marks before and after. Right
click the value in the right pane and select Modify to make changes.

Doug: Thanks for your helpful info !
