At our plant we have set up a computer for all the
factory workers to access at lunch time. The only
purpose of this computer is to access web sites related
to their job and benefits. Sites such as Blue Cross,
Mass Mutual, Quicken, etc. In order to keep them from
wandering into places they don't belong, we are running
the browser in Kiosk mode. If you are not familiar with
this, just start Internet Explorer with the "k" switch (
iexplore -k) and it will come up in full screen mode
without the toolbars on top. I have the Favorites Bar
opened on the left with only the sites we want them to
access. So far so good. Now the problem. On top of the
Favorites column is an "X" which if pressed will close
the Favorites bar. There is no way to open it again at
this point and they will be stuck at the current web
site. Is there a way to delete this button or otherwise
disable the ability to close the Favorites bar?

Look at these it may just be what you want.

How to Configure Internet Explorer 5.x to Block Access to All But Approved
Internet Sites
The following describes how to setup Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x so that
no sites can be viewed, except those that are explicitly allowed by an
Administrator. This is done through the Content Advisor system within
Internet Explorer itself.
