Press F1 on bootup

Hi, two weeks ago upon bootup with winxp pro I was getting press F1
shortly into bootup and when I did press F1 bootup continued and
computer operated as per normal till next shutdown. It went away after
a couple of days till today and I'm now getting press F1 again. What
is causing this annoyance and how can I get the computer to not stop
at this point during bootup?

Funny enough my friend was having the same problem, until today as further
testing her pc, her floppy happened to be dead as a dodo, but in device
manager it said it was working fine, on replacing the floppy the F1 boot up
no longer exists.
Now this may not be the case with you, but might give you some ideas, have
you been having any problems with hardware on your pc ?

Yes, on occasion my A drive continues to click as if it was opening a
disk when there isn't one there, perhaps that may the problem and like
your friend my a drive is showing that it is working fine. It does
continue to work and is not dead as of yet but it may be causing some
problems with startup. Imagine they are fairly cheap to buy and are
they as easy to install as a hard drive..just undo skrews of old one,
disconnect power and reinstall..thanks for the suggestion

Changed A drive and unfortunately still get the press F1 to resume
and so at some what of a loss as computer seems to be operating fine
except for this annonyance at startup
