Presenter View does not come up before it is shown on screen

I normally allow a video team to present my sermon and do not have to present myself. However, when I do present the PPT by using "Presenter View" the point will come up on the Screen first before it comes up on the Presenter view like I believe it should. Could this be a hardware problem with the cable, the projector, etc.? or am I missing something here?

What I need and believe I can get from using the Presenter View is that I can 1) see the point before it goes up on the screen through a projector, 2) see my notes as I present each point, 3) Use my wireless remote to move presentation forward 4) Go to next slide and notes before audience sees it up on the Screen. But I do not achieve 1 and 4. Can you help

I believe that Presenter's View is given lower priority than the presentation Slide Show view. You probably see a window on your monitor that says "Loading. Please wait."

Therefore, when you first open the file in Slide Show mode, you will see it on the screen a second or so before you see the Presenter's View on your monitor. What you see in the main area of Presenter's View is the slide currently being displayed on the projector. To see all of the other slides, you must rely on the thumbnails to the left. Once you select a thumbnail, that is what will be displayed through the projector.

Sonia, thanks for your help but I am still unsure what you mean and need to know what to do more specifically to see the points on my laptop that I use to preach my PPT's to the congregation and also see my notes before I use my remote to go to the next point. From what I understand about the Presenter View I am suppose to see the points on my laptop before they are shown on the screen before the audience. Did I miss something in what you wrote?

What I'm saying is that the designers didn't share your view of how it should
work and 1 and 4 do not work as you believe they should. The Presenter's View
can't be altered, so I can't offer you any work around beyond printing out the
notes and slides and using them as your reference.

You can register your wish for how Presenter's View should work by going to the
Microsoft wish page. They use the entries there to get user thoughts on what
should be in the next version of PowerPoint.

It's more work than it should have to be but suppose you put the first paragraph
of your notes for each slide in parentheses at the end of the notes for the
previous slide? That'd at least give you a hint of what's coming up.

You might want to look at PowerShow add-in from
http://officeone.mvps.org/powershow/powershow.html - among other things, it
enables you to use the normal PowerPoint views when projecting. It keeps the
slide design views in-sync with the slide being projected. This would allow
you to see your full slide and notes in normal PowerPoint view and also use
your wireless remote to navigate through the slides. You can move to next
slide in the PowerPoint design view without affecting the slide show too.

Thanks, Chirag. That would be a good solution.

Looked at PowerShow ... and it 'almost' would do what I think I want... if
it 'only' (don't we always want one more thing?) would highlight or show you
which point your were on. The ability to see the whole slide while the
audience gets it a piece at a time is good -- but then I would find myself
having to look back at the screen to see which point is being shown.

I would be happy if you could just have the 'presenter' screen one point
ahead of the audience screen.
