Presario 5005cl XP pro install problems

I am upgrading from Win Me to Win Xp Pro on a Compaq 5005cl. FAQS, and
other resources have not helped.

I am having the following problems:
1. Page_fault_in_nonpaged_area
ERROR: 0x0000 0050 (0x8ddf f204, 0x0000 0001, 0x8018 34fb, 0x0000
0001)

2. Irq_not_less_or_equal
ERROR: 0x0000 000a (0x0000 0005, 0x8086 6148, 0xfc90 df48, 0x0000
0000)

One of the 2 errors are seen with the following tries.
Things tried:
1. Upgraded from Win Me to Win XP Pro.
2. Updated drivers and remove the relevant vxds. repeat 1.
3. Removed all irrelevant cards and repear 1.
4. Win Me safe mode start and 1.
5. Clean boot and 1.
6. Formatted Hard disk, removed all partitions, and 7
7. Clean install of XP Pro.
8. Changed RAM, repeat 7
9. Changed graphics card, repeat 7.
10. Upgraded BIOS and repeat 7.

The recommendations in the error is to disable caching and shadow.
Have not been able to find those options in bios settings.

1. Can I load a better version of BIOS, with the relevant options.
2. Any suggestions on things to try to install XP ?

I guess the worst case is I have to stay with Windows ME.

I assume it was an upgrade, not a reformat/clean install? And yess there is
a BIOS update listed for your 5005CL. It is here:

Thanks HH for your input. I had performed a clean install of Win XP
Pro. And had the problems: Page_fault_in_nonpaged_area, and
Irq_not_less_or_equal.

I did not have th restore CDs or Windows ME install CDs to get back to
the original configuration.

Finally, installed Windows 2000 and then an upgrade to Win XP Pro.
Things worked like a charm. There ends a week of excitement or was is
frustration - I forget ! Now I can start working on installing Linux.
