prepairing to install ...

We have a couple of problems with office xp sp3:
1. When we start access across the net we get: 'prepairing to install ... '
& then 'windows unable to c:\ ... '. However access comes up ok &
'prepairing to install ...' goes away. We click off the 'windows ... ' & go
to work . Any ideas?
2. We have a linked pasted file to a word letter. All the other pc's ask if
we want to insert the file but this pc just inserts the file without asking.
Any ideas? TIA
