Pre-Win2K clients

In a Win2K domain, is it important to have also pre-win2k clients (98,
Me) with DNS, configured in TCP/IP properties, to point to the DC
(assuming that the DNS service is running on the DC)?
AFAIK resolution in Win98 clients, for instance, relies on WINS or
NetBios broadcasts alone.

Why should I need to use the internal DNS with pre-Win2K clients?

Thanks,
Roberto

Mainly to find resources on the domain if WINS or broadcast doesn't work and
if you use DHCP it can update the down level clients DNS for them so other
systems can find them in DNS. Also your DNS server will cache internet
requests and thus resolve Internet names faster than going to the ISP's DNS.

Probably; almost certainly. Scott gave you some of the specifics.

Why are you resisting this simple configuration? It won't hurt; it will
likely help you.
