pre-rc1 download issues

I downloaded pre-RC1 build using the Akamai download manager to the
Documents folder in Vista beta2 (5384). Now I can't find it. Well,
actually it showed up in the Documents when I tried to re-download it (again
using D/L Manager). And my hard drive has 2.5gb less than it did so I know
its there... but where? I tried everything I now to find the file:
searching, going through Temp folders, unhiding everything.

Can anyone help me?!!??

Try these folders (where %USERNAME% is your username):

c:\users\%USERNAME%\Downloads
c:\users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\
c:\users\%USERNAME%\AppData\LocalLow\
c:\users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Temp\
c:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet
Files\

If you can find it thru another download, at the time you are asked to save
it (right up front), right click on the item in the panel and drag it to
your desktop and either move or copy there.

I have the same problem- it shows up when using the dwnld manager but not
when you use explorer. I did a lot of searches--none find the download. I
tried showing hidden files--no go. Anyone know what this is? By the way--it
clearly says it is downloading into user documents, so i would question
looking elsewhere. When trying a second download, the manager asks if you
want to overwrite the existing file.

What is going on here?

I have exactly the same prob--cannot find file after 2 downloads--dwnld
manager says it's there in documents but explorer cannot see it--disk size
says it is on the disk--all searches turn up nothing

Anyone got the solution?

Have you had any luck find the file yet? Please people, we need help.

I'm now willing to just give up and wait for RC1 to come on a disk, but
wait, I can't delete the file because I can't find it... *sigh*

Try a search using the below as the search object:

vista_5536.16385.060821-1900_vista_rc1_x86fre_client-lr1cfre_en_dvd.iso

Have you bothered to try the advise above. It worked for me. You obviously
find it during the download process, just work with it.

I seem to have lost my post, but I did find my files after I downloaded. I
had to use an XP install to do it, but they are there. No version of Vista
can (will) see them.

I found them in the User\you\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary
Internet Files\Virtualized\C\users\you\Desktop -- in my case, with of
course "you" being your user name. I had downloaded the files to my
desktop, hence they were put in the virtual Desktop folder. As I mentioned,
I have not found a way to see or recover them using any version of Vista
(Beta 2 or RC1) and the files are currently on a slave drive in a Beta 2
installation.

My question is, why would Microsoft allow the download manager to put the
files where you cannot get them. If anyone knows a way to recover them in
that location, please advise.

Just found a way to get to the Virtualized folder. Use the Address toolbar
and type the entire address into it.

C:\Users\You\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet
Files\Virtualized

Of course, replace "You" with your user name. Let me know if this works for
anyone.
