Pre-installation - OEM type Win XP

S

Super Stuff

Hi,

Hope someone can help me out here...

We reload 20-30 machines a day with Windows XP Home (SP1A) and would like to
have a pre-installation disk so that we can install XP unattended.

We used to do this with Win 98 by having a 'pre-installation' diskette. You
simply put the cd and floppy disk in the appropriate drive, ejected the
floppy when prompted and went for a cup of tea and when you returned Windows
was loaded up to the desktop without the need to enter user names and agree
to the licence etc

Is there a way to do this with Windows XP? Please tell me there is!! :)

If anyone knows a way of doing this please make my day and drop me a mail at
(e-mail address removed) or post here

Many thanks - Ben

Carey, thanks for taking the time to respond.

However, I am not sure this is what I need...

We simple want a method of performing an unattended Win XP install with the
Windows XP CD and a floppy disk (as we used to with Windows 98).

Many of the machines we reload are different configurations so we simply
want to get XP on without licence agreement, user info etc and then load the
appropriate drivers manually.

With Win 98 we had a floppy disk that we inserted into the target machine
and it booted from, it loaded a bunch of files to the target machines HDD,
then it asked you to remove the floppy, insert the Windows CD and then it
rebooted and loaded Windows completely unattended.

When you were finished loading drivers etc you pressed a 'shutdown' icon
that was present on the desktop and then the machine was ready for the
customer (next time it was turned on it asked for user info/registration
etc)

We are after a version of that floppy but for Windows XP - does one exist?

Thanks again - Ben

We are happy to install drivers after

Carey has given you pointers in the right direction(s),
and I'll add one more:

Do a search on Microsoft's site for OEM Pre-installation Kit.

The OPK is a set of tools to do exactly what you want to do,
and it's highly customizable [sp?] ...

Good luck,
