Prb DNS after dcpromo

R

Ray

After I created a domain using dcpromo, folders _msdcs,
_tcp, _udp et _sites have not been created. Netdiag
indicates [RCODE_SERVER_FAILURE] and netdiag /fix did not
correct the problem.

DNS server is in the same server where th DC is. I am
running W2k SP4.

DNS address: 127.0.0.1

What is happening and how can I resove this problem.

Thanks.

Some things that can cause this:

1. Change the DNS address to the actual DNS IP and remove the 127.0.0.1
(loopback) address.
2. Using your ISP's DNS (just in case you didn;'t mention that. They must be
removed on the DC and all your clients.
3. The AD DNS Domain name must be spelled the same as the Primary DNS Suffix
and the zone name in DNS.
4. The zone in DNS must have updates set to at least "YES".
5. The AD DNS Domain name must not be a single label name (such as "domain"
instead of the *required* format of "domain.com").

FYI: Never use your ISP's DNS in any internal machines. To get efficient
Internet resolution, use a forwarder. If the forwarding option is grayed
out, delete the Root zone that DCPROMO may have created, refresh the console
and try again. If not sure how, this article explains both of these steps:
