Hi all,

I find that it is not possible to make high-quality pdfs from powerpoints
with png images. I am using pngs with alpha chanels and the ouput
of those images is always in a dramatically bad quality.

Prints of those files look good (strange enough) but no way to make nice pdfs.

I tried:

using pdfmaker macro
using the acrobats pdf printer driver
using a postscript 3 ppd to write a ps file and then distill ist (hmm .. why do prints look good)

.... but the quality is not sufficient.

Any help is greatly appreciated .. I would gladly provide samples if anyone
is willing to investigate this with me.

Daniel

here's a sample:

on the left is PPT on the right is PDF. No subsampling set when distilling - it looks the same
no matter which workflow I choose.

Other non-png images look great in pdf.

Thanks for posting the screen shot. That certainly makes the difference dramatic.

I'd like to have a look at this.
Could you email me a copy of this slide -- just the slide and graphic, no other content, no other
slides ... small is good ;-)

Also, please let me know which version of PowerPoint and Acrobat you have.

Sure Steve,

I'll beam it over to you asap (probably this afternoon).
