Image shadows disappears when printing

In ppt2007 I have a poster in A0 size with some text (layout with tables) and
three 300dpi resolution png images. I have applied a nice centered shadow to
the images, but when printing these shadows just disappear.
Both shadows and 3D effect on some rectangles that are also in the document
print just fine.
The image shadows are also gone in the print preview, whether or not i scale
the document to A3. This goes for all printers that I have installed.

Any suggestions? This is really annoying...

Weird bonus info: I have Adobe Acrobat 8 installed, and when I convert the
document to pdf (Press Quality settings) the shadows are there, and now I can
print them. However, image quality drops, it insists on scaling down to A4,
and out of nowhere a part of one of the rectangles is missing. A workaround
is to print to Adobes pdf printer, but this makes the image shadows disappear
again!

In the print dialog box, please check the "High quality" option.

Thank you. Don't know how I missed that option - I sure spent some time
trying to optimize all possible settings. But it works!

Anyhow, I find it a little odd that the shadows of the drawn rectangles were
printed, while those of the images were not...
