PPT formatting

I'd really appreciate some help with this. Our company is trying to setup
templates for 2006 that should all contain the same attributes, i.e. default
autoshape and text box attributes etc. When I apply a certain format, then
click the (default for new objects) check box, I end up with some issues. If
I have applied a certain format for text boxes being left justified, 12 pt
with no bkgrnd color, the clicking of that check box for autoshapes defaults
applies to all, autoshapes and text boxes. Is there a way to control better,
(separately) defaults for certain objects, text etc?

I really appreciate any advice anyone can provide.

Set up a textbox, right-click and choose Set Autoshapes Default. This should
set alignment, font, etc. But it won't pick up fill and line colors -- you
have to set a regular autoshape to get those. So....next set up a regular
shape (a rectangle or something), right-click and Set Autoshapes Default.

There's not a way to specify defaults for, say, a regular textbox and also a
filled object like a rectangle with different default text attributes. No
way to set one default for a rectangle and another for a circle. No way to
set one default for a rectangle and something else for a regular line.

If you need a number of different default objects, you may want to create
one slide with "samples." Your users can use the format painter (paintbrush
icon) to pick up the formatting of the object and "paint" it on other
objects simply by clicking them.

Otherwise, maybe check into ShapeStyles.

That helps, thanks for the advice.
