Ppt chart objects lose link to data

Hi
My users are often creating chart objects in ppt and
sometimes if the return to a chart they cannont edit the
data. Ppt comes back with the message "Server application
source file, or item cant be found, or unknown error. You
may need to reinstall the serve application"

Any help or guidance on how to resolve this would be
really helpfull.
We are using Office 2000 and Office XP.

I am having the same problem with my computer. I have been reading
about it looking for a solution, but the closest thing I can find is
if you have the Norton AV office plugin enabled, that might help for
your problem. As for mine, my company uses Symantec Corporate
edition, which doesn't have an office plugin that we know of, or
haven't been able to find. I'm also using Windows XP professional and
office 2000 sr-1
