Good evening, Sonia!

Just wanted to thank you and Robert Lerner for all your
time and effort in trying to help me get this issue
fixed. I finally reformatted the hard drive, reinstalled
XP and Office, and the now PPT works great. I can only
assume it must have been a corrupt or mission file in the
registry or something like that. Anyhow, I'll sleep
better tonight. Thanks for your help.

Gratefully,

Richard

Well, I'm very relieved that fixed it. I poked around in the registry trying
to find what might be the problem but came up blank. I guess, for the
archives, the solution for now will be reinstall Windows. At least they
won't have to go through all the other checks and tests we did.

Good luck.

Good Morning, Robert!

I just had to let you know what I discovered quite by
accident this morning. In trying to run a PPT
presentation I made while using Win98, I found that it
was not sequencing correctly--everything was there, but
it was not in sequence. I chose to run the Program
Compability Wizard and set the program to run on XP using
the Win98 mode.

That was the problem! While using the Program
Compability Wizard, in the Select Display Setting window,
I checked the "Disable Visual Themes" box. Then finished
the Wizard and exited. The PPT presentation worked
flawlessly. But, for whatever reason, in doing this the
black background issue locked in to any new PPT
background color change I wanted to make.

I ran the Restore Previous XP Settings program to an
insertion point prior to the Program Compability Wizard,
and I was back in business. Everything in PPT
(background colors and all) worked normally. However, my
PPT presentation done in the Win98 mode had sequence
problem once again.

I ran the Program Compability Wizard again, but this time
I did not check any box in the Select Display Settings
window, finished and exited. Bingo! Everything
functioned in sequence in the PPT presentation, and my
background collors selecton ran perfectly.

thanks again, good friend, for your patience and
perseverance.

Gratefully,

Richard
