PPT 2007 outline view annoyance?

Howdy all.

I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed, or is bothered by this: when
in outline view, the page up and keys no longer work like they used
to. In earlier versions, they would essentially "page up or down" the
text in outline view. Now they just go to the next or previous slide,
and you have to use the mouse in the scroll bar area to be able to
"flip through", page at a time.

Is there some secret setting I haven't been able to find, or is it
something that needs to be complained about?

Thanks,

Villem Teder

Hi Villem

I'm sorry, I don't understand. I have just tested Page Up and Page Down in
outline view in 2003 and 2007, and both versions display the same
behaviour - that is, you move a whole page up and a whole page down. Perhaps
you could explain in a little more detail the change in behaviour you are
seeing?

Sounds like a good one to go here with, Villem:

How do I send PowerPoint 2007 feedback or report bugs to Microsoft?
http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00962.htm

I'm seeing the same thing here. (in 2003 as well but ISTR that you use
an older version?)

Yes, I use either PPT2000 or 2007. Never installed 2003.Did have 2002
installed briefly.

I had a chance this morning to do some tests with PPT2003/WINXP for
comparison, and here are my results.

In PPT2000, when "focus" is in the slide preview pane, the page up and
down keys move to the next or previous slide. When "focus" is in the
outline view pane, the page up and down keys move to the next or
previous page of the outline, just as their names implies. Or at least
how I have gotten used to the meaning of page up or down over all
these years of using computers.

In PPT2003, when "focus" is in the slide preview pane, the page up and
down keys move to the next or previous slide, as above. When in the
outline view pane, the page up and down keys also move to the next or
previous slide. However, using control + page up or down, now causes
the display of the next or previous page of the outline.

In PPT2007, when "focus" is in the slide preview pane, it still
behaves as before. When "focus" is in the outline view pane, now I can
no longer "page" through the outline. All combinations of page up or
down with either control, shift or alt either do nothing or just move
to the next or previous slide.

Since Lucy reported seeing nothing unusual, I thought maybe there is
something in the regional settings that is different. I tried
"English, Australia" but didn't see anything different here.

Is Office 2007 the same around the world, or are there different
versions for different markets? If there are, how does one go about
trying different versions, or finding out what is different between
them?

Thanks,

Villem

OK, I get it now and I *can* recreate this. So sorry for erroneous info and
lack of solution :-(

Lucy

Thanks Lucy and Steve.

I guess my next step is to register a complaint...
