PPT 2007 Charts

I'm planning to upgrade to PPT 2007. Will I be required to update to the
latest version of Excel since charts are now created directly from Excel? Or
is it just better to upgrade to new office suite? Are there any known major
issues to expect when upgrading to the new PPT?

Thnak you!

I'd upgrade the whole suite if you're going to move up.
Playing mix and match with bits from different Office version will make you
crazy when it's time to apply service packs or, heaven forbid, reinstall.
Are there any known major
issues to expect when upgrading to the new PPT?

- Being overwhelmed at all the NEAT stuff you can do graphically now.

- NOT being able to find any of the stuff you already know how to do, now that
everyhing's moved. Kidding aside, it's very different now. If you're a casual
once-in-a-while PPT user, you'll probably love the new interface. If you're a
hardcore, hours-a-day user, figure on losing productivity for a while as you
learn the new interface.

There's also something of a learning curve if you have to share files with
people who use older versions. The new file format's different so you can't
just hand your 2007 files off to others and be certain they'll be able to use
them. There are several ways around this, no worries.

You can use PPT 2007 standalone without Excel. I don't know off the top
of my head whether it uses Excel 2003 if it's installed or MS Data (or
whatever it is called) that is uses standalone.

Not sure if this is what you mean, but MSGraph is an optional install component
of Office 2007. I'd guess it's included with PPT standalone (or possibly even
automatically installed rather than being an option).

I doubt MS would rely on Excel 2003, which you might not have in a standalone
2007 PPT install.
