PPT 2002 - How do I do a full install?

Hi all - PPT 2002 - WinME

I have a small problem with my PPT 2002 upgrade. When I am working
in the program and go to use a feature, it says it is not installed, and
do I want to install it now. I say "Sure 'nuf", and then it goes through
the hunt 'n seek process, then asks for the disk. I put it in and it
does it's thing to install it. However, the next time I try to use that
same feature, I get the same song 'n dance routine that is needs to
be installed.

Just out of my curious, is there a way to permanently install the features,
such as Spelling, Visual Basic Editor, Header Footer, Design
Templates, etc. For some reason, although I have selected all the features
and such to be installed several times, there are some that continue to
have to be installed each time I want to use them. There may be others
I have not tried to use yet.

Any suggestions or information would really be appreciated. It is a real
pain to have to stop and reinstall these things every time I work in 2002.
I don't have this problem in the 2000.

Best regards,
Jan :)

Put that CD back in the drive (close all Office apps). Run Setup.exe and
select Add/Remove Features from the menu. When you see the menu that says
"Upgrade Now" and "Choose an install type", check the radio button that says
"Custom" (very important).

Then, on the next dialog, select "Choose detailed installation options for
each application" (very important).

Then, one at a time, expand the lists for PowerPoint, Office Shared
Features, and Office Tools and expand any sub items. Make sure that the
ones that you want do not have a yellow "1" by them. That means "Install on
first use". Instead, click on the icon and select "Run from my Computer".
Do a thorough job of this step and you won't get the message again.

I printed out your instructions and followed them to the letter. I selected
everything as I was not really sure which I did and did not really need,
rebooted and then tested out a few of the features that had fired the
install messages before, and so far so good, I'm not getting the need to
install messages. ;-)) So, hopefully, this should solve the problem.

I am also going to try and reinstall some of the add-ins I have not been
able to install yet, and see if perhaps the lack of some of the necessary
features that were not previously properly installed might have prevented
them from being installed

Thank you so very much for your help, I really do appreciate it.
