I am attempting to make CT (computed tomography) scans transparent. (This is
to allow me to superimpose the images.) I have tried to use the transparency
tool on the standard toolbar, but am unsuccessful in making certain "regions"
of the image transparent. Is there a way to "select" the image and make
transparent? Or is there a tool I could use to contour sections which I want
transparent? Please advise. Thanks.

In PPT 2002/2003:

Have you tried creating a drawing object then filling that object (right
click > Format Autoshape) with your desired image? Set your transparency
while in Format Autoshape with the desired level of transparency.

I would recommend saving the images from the scanner to a file, then editing
them in a piece of graphics software (PhotoShop, PaintShop, Corel Draw,
etc.) and setting the transparency there. You will have much better luck
than trying to do this directly in PPT.
