PP Video Clip Problem

Have a problem with video clips in PP 2003. PC is a Dell 2.0 GHz with 512
RAM. Video card is a Matrox G450 dual head, with two monitors. Use primary
for edit and secondary for display (which feeds a large screen projector at
church).

Video clip example is a clip from a DVD movie. It runs about 3 min. Clip
is in wmv format as produced by PFCMedia. Movie plays and displays correctly
using Windows Media Player on either monitor.

If I incorporate the movie in PP using the Insert Movie File option, it
plays choppy with jerky video and sound not in sync. Hard acceleration is
already turned on. Have tried lots of other file formats. All have jerky
problem.

If I incorporate the movie in PP using a Windows Media Player object, and
set WMP to the same file, things work better. However the problem there is
getting the PP file to remember the full screen, no media player controls
setting. I set the object properties and set the fullScreen property to true
and hit F5, all plays correctly. However if I play the slide show again, the
full screen setting is lost and it plays incorrectly. If I save using
fullScreen set to true, and then exit and reload, it is now back to false.

Any thoughts?

Ed,

Does this problem happen if you take the second monitor out of the mix? By
that I mean what happens if you don't use the second display? (Trying to
eliminate possible problems.)

No. If I remove the second monitor from the configuration, then either
approach (integrated video or intergrated Media Play) both product smooth
video.

We have since ordered a new ATI 256 MB 8x AGP video card for this system.

Ed,

I think you are on the right track with a better video card. Putting up two
displays AND playing a video appears to be too much for your current card.

One thing I always suggest to people is to do a bit of hard disk
housekeeping. Delete any *.tmp files on the machine and then run the disk
defragmenter. You may be surprised at the difference this can make when
using video.

I should also say we plan to get the PFCMedia product, as that similifes the
process of taking a video clip file and making it always work in PP.

Had already done that.

The other issue we have is displaying text and other PP chart info over a
video clip. PP itself does not do this. We purchased the Crystal Graphicns
PowerPlugs product, but hadnothing but trouble there and returned it.

Any other similar products out there that work?
