PP or ??? for slideshow

P

Pam

Any ideas would be appreciated here - I'm trying to help my son on his
webpage and he has put up a pp slideshow with audio - it seems to run ok
(and there are things I've already told him to do - like take out the spaces
between words in file name) but its a huge pain - and a person can't stop or
restart or advance thru the presentation without throwing off the audio. Is
there a different program that he could use that would be able to be
imported into fp that would do a better job - or at least a job that would
enable visitor control?

thanks

Pam,
There are programs, but none of them are cheap. PresentationPro has
a powerpoint convert that will convert the presentation to Flash. Camtasia
Studio (http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia.asp) is also another good program
for converting a PowerPoint presentation with audio into something more
easily embedded in a webpage.

Another option may be the free OpenOffice office suite. It's an open
source project that includes an application similar to PowerPoint. When I
used it last (a good while ago btw) it did have a feature to export a
presentation to Macromedia Shockwave format, which can be put into a webpage
easier. It didn't have a lot of control and I can't remember if it also did
audio, but it may be worth a look.

You may not find a very good solution that doesn't cost a good bit
of money as these programs are very much in demand and require a lot of work
to create.

It sounds like this is a powerpoint problem not a frontpage problem - you
might find more answers in the Powerpoint newsgroup.

Take a look at the Google "Picassa" program for free. I think it will do
slide shows.
