Powerpoint Viewer

A friend has a new pc with Vista as OS. He has received several .pps
files and asked me how to open them. I had him d/l and install
Powerpoint Viewer 2007. When he attempts to open a file, he receives a
msg that (words to the effect) Windows cannot open the file and to go to
"Set Associations" (something more). I had him save the file to
desktop, maneuver to "Open with...", select Powerpoint, check the box to
"always open these files with this program", and then click OK. At this
point the file will launch. However, next time he tries to open a PP
file, he has to go through the same routine all over agian, even tho the
"remember" box is checked.

Now what? I'm at the end of my usefulness...

TIA,
Fred

"Note PowerPoint Viewer 2007 registers with the .ppt, .pptx, .pptm, .pot,
..potx, .potm, .pps, .ppsx and .ppsm file extensions only if a version of
PowerPoint is not installed on your computer. If registered, double-clicking
on these file types will launch PowerPoint Viewer 2007.â€

So I think the problem you mentioned may be a conflict by the two
softwares:powerPoint and PowerPoint Viewer.As I know,PowerPoint can also open
..pps file. But you should not installed PowerPoint Viewer if you have
installed PowerPoint.

Thanks for the suggestion - I ask him if his Vista pc already had
Powerpoint installed.

Thanks!
