PowerPoint Template settings

I have recently created and saved a single page template to the Auto Content Wizard. In testing the template for accuracy, I discovered that it is now a two page (slide) document. A slide was inserted before my template. I double checked the saved template and it shows just the one slide. How do I eliminate it from the template and/or Auto Content Wizard version?

Please help
 
Which version of PPT? I'm betting 2002 or 2003, because in those versions, slide masters come in pairs, whether you want them to or not. I suspect that the added slide is a title slide master.
