Powerpoint Presentations unsynchronized

I'm really frustrated with Powerpoint; I recorded voice with music in the background; then I choose about 100 slides, and text to go with it, animated them appropriately and then "rehearsed times" so that I would synchronize the sound file with the actual slide presentation. Fiasco. The synchronization won't last more than about 3 minutes. The slides roll faster than they are supposed to (they "gain" around 1 second for each 15 seconds worth of presentation). When I rehearsed timings I did it "by the book". I just wanted to have sound and slides together, synchronized, so I would only have to press F5, sit back, relax and view the slide show. What can I do to have a correct timing rehearsal, please?
