PowerPoint conversion to movie with sound

I have a PP file I converted to a .mov, however it is not picking up the
sound in the background, which is an MP3. I re-inserted the MP3 file on the
Mac and the sound icon shows on the slide, but the sound doesn't play. When I
went back to the Save As there is an option to play a soundtrack in the
background but it evidently doesn't like MP3 files. Is this a function of the
converter (as I've read on the list) and if I re-save it in QT, will it then
play or does anyone have any other ideas?

Have you tried with a wave file instead of a MP3 ?

Maybe you should try another program to convert your powerpoint
presentation.
You can use PPT2DVD http://www.ppt-to-dvd.com or PPT to Video
http://www.ppt-to-dvd.com/ppt-to-video-overview.html.
