Powerpoint confusion

I'm a new user of Powerpoint 2007 on a Windows XP Pro machine. When I
attempt to save a previously named presentation, I get a dialog box that
says "Press the ECS key to cancel saving the documment". Under the text is a
control labeled CANCEL. If I do nothing, after about 15 seconds, the
document is saved. Why the confusing message? Do I press ESC or click CANCEL
if I don't want the document saved? None of the other programs in Office
2007 behave this way.

First thing I would do is ensure I have all the updates to PowerPoint 2007,
then do a Detect and Repair to see if that does not clear up your problem

You are saving the file in 97-2003 format. This can take a few seconds. Just
be patient and see if the file saves.

If you don't need the file to save in this format, then change your settings
in Office Button | PPT Options | Save | Save files in this format. Just
choose "PowerPoint Presentation" there, and it will save as a 2007 format
with a PPTX file extension.

Actually, the save option IS set for PowerPointPresentation.

I think you are missing the point (or I'm doing a poor job of relating it).
My intent is to save the document, but the program takes what seems to be
too long and is sending me conflicting informtion.

I have done a Save As for the 2007 format. The problem persists, so I guess
I just live with it. Although I have used several of the Office 2007
programs, this is the first time for PowerPoint. I guess that's just one of
its quirks.

Same for me; I've got that box...And do nothing until the file is saved.
So I wander why this "useless" box?
