Running XP and Powerpoint 2000 SP3 loading the set default view add-in. It
goes through the add-in process, but then says it can't load the add-in. I've
used the same add-in on other computers with no problem. Any ideas why it
won't work?

Thanks Chirag, in my case, however, the add-in IS showing in the add-in list.
When selected the error message says "Could not load add-in, would you like
to delete?" Any clues?

Turn the macro security level (Tools | Macro | Security...") to medium and
then load the add-in.
Once the add-in is loaded you can revert back to High security.

Check your security settings. Tools, Macro, Security.
Set security to Medium or Lower and put a check next to "Trust all installed
addins" on the other tab.
Try installing the addin again.
Assuming it works, you can set security back to High if you like.
