Powerpoint 2007 opens .pps in edit mode

When I open a link to a slide show (.pps) from an HTML page and I am running
Office 2003, the show is opened in slide show mode. But when I am at a PC
with Office 2007, it opens in edit mode. How do I get it to always open in
slide show mode? Note: If I am using a PC with 2007 and I go to the folder
that has the .pps file and open the file, it does open in slide show mode.

You have answered your own question. When using Powerpoint to open a file
(ppt or pps) it assumes that you want to edit it and opens it in design mode.
If you click on a pps in Windows Explorer it will open in slideshow mode, a
ppt will open in Powerpoint for editing.

Thanks for your response, although it doesn't resolve the issue. Let me put
it another way. The link within the HTML page to the .pps file is can be
accessed by other employees. Those who have Office 2003 get the slide show
when the click the link. Those with Office 2007 get the edit/design mode. I
want everyone to get the slide show, regardless of the version of Office they
have.
