We are upgrading to Office 2007 at work and I am getting the following error
messages every time powerpoint loads or the system starts : "powerpoint
could not load the add-in C:\program files\microsoft
office\templates\presentations\auto content wizard.pwz"
"powerpoint could not load the add-in c:\program files\microsoft
office\office\BSHPPT97.PPA" and "powerpoint could not load d:\program
files\microsoft office\office\PPTtools.ppa" I have tried to reload it to no
avail. Office 97 is also on the machine and I tried uninstalling it and it
didn't change. Help me please.

Well, as the error messages say, PowerPoint can't load the add-ins it
mentioned. But it seems odd that you'd get this error when you turn on your
computer. (I assume that's what you mean by "the system starts.")

I'd probably just go find the file sin question (auto content wizard.pwz,
bshppt97.ppa, and ppttools.ppa) and rename them with a .OLD extension.

Or try Office Button | PPT Options | Add-ins and just disable them there.
You can do that by selecting Manage PowerPoint Add-ins at the bottom (you
may need to select Disabled Items there, though, if the add-ins couldn't be
loaded) and click Go. Then remove the add-ins in question.

Those files are no where to be found on the computer which is why it can't
load them, I just don't know why it was even looking for them. I gave up and
completely reloaded everything on the computer starting with XP. Thanks
anyway

The existance of an earlier version of PowerPoint causes the add-in enteries
to be migrated over to Office 2007 entries. These may be pointing to add-ins
which are no longer on disk.

You can the following locations:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\PowerPoint\AddIns
and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\PowerPoint\AddIns

The existance of an earlier version of PowerPoint causes the add-in enteries
to be migrated over to Office 2007 entries. These may be pointing to add-ins
which are no longer on disk.

And as a result of what appears to be a bug in PPT 2007, where earlier versions
simply ignored registry entries that point to non-existent add-ins, PPT2007
insists on complaining about each one it encounters. Silly.
