Printer: HP Photosmart C7280

OK, where could I find a certified driver for the printer
so that M$ Powerpoint would not blame HP for the problem?

BTW, why didn't the same thing happens to video driver?
Shouldn't Vi$ta enter reduced functionality mode when
someone tried to use a beta driver or Vi$ta component?

If the problem then goes away, it's a good bet that it was caused by a bad
print driver, so THEN you go looking for a good one for your HP printer.

Nothing was printed. Why would closing Powerpoint be related to
the printer driver?

Printing isn't the issue, the printer driver is. For some reason, PowerPoint
sometimes crashes upon closing when you have a printer driver it doesn't
like.

Your question body asked specifically about the printer driver, but your
question subject mentions a crash. I wasn't paying much attention to that
before. Do you get an error message when PPT crashes?

Add-ins are another source of crashes. What add-ins do you see listed in the
Office Button | PPT Options | Add-ins?

Nothing. Vi$ta just said Powerpoint has crashed.

I don't know. It's a HP PC with pre-installed Vi$ta. Not much
I could modify without losing HP's factory settings. Anyway,
I could not find any so-called WDM driver for the HP C7280,
just the one found via search in HP's website.

Leave the existing driver installed but also instal another printer driver from
the ones offered by Vista. A LaserJet 4 or something similarly generic. Make
that your default driver. See if that solves the problem.

I didn't even hit the "Print" option. How come the printer
driver was polled when Powerpoint was shut down......

Is it what Beijing called "un-necessary intervention"? :)

I've just watched a change in printer drivers solve a lot of problems for a lot of
people. I've seen a lot of people solve similar problems by removing problem
add-ins.

Well, until HP get a certified driver from Micro$oft...
If you want to argue the "whys and wherefores" instead of just TRYING a few things
that might solve your problem, that's your call.

It's just ridiculous... I did NOT hit the Print button, and
yet a hidden connection was made between Powerpoint and Vi$ta
whenever Powerpoint closes. Sounds like a security hazard
if not a backdoor... :)

If I printed something and then Powerpoint crashed on
closing, I could accept that. But I DID NOT.

But I don't want to waste any more of your time if that's not what you want.

I don't wanna waste your time as well. The problem is at
the mercy of HP and Micro$oft now... (unless someone found
me a certified HP C7280 driver... :)

There is not a *print* newsgroup for Vi$ta... :)
