I use PP 2003 for multimedia presentations. I want to do narration on some of
my slides, but also want music to play behind the narration as well-hw can I
do this-when I tried to record narration, it didn't allow music to be
there-can the level of volume of music be controlled?
Also, recently when I was previewing my presentation through my digital
projector, something happened whereby videos which had played, no longer
wanted to play-the PP slide was there, but the video screen was black as it
was projected through the projector-i then hit my Function Key to change my
display and the video on the wall then played, but my laptop screen was
black-I could not get both laptop and wall image to show the video
simultaneously-it did before!! what dd I screw up? Thanks for your
assistance-Bill Brauning (e-mail address removed)

Part one of your question:
If your music file is not a wav file, you have a pretty good chance that they
can play at the same time. See:
http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorials/PowerPoint/multimedia.htm
for why PowerPoint handles sounds this way.

So the simplest solution is to save the music file as an mpg, midi file,
etc. and insert it to play. See:
http://www.indezine.com/products/powerpoint/ppsoundacross.html
for a nice tutorial about inserting sounds.

On the downside, distribution may be an issue because the music file won't
be embedded in the presentation. See:

Hope this helps,
