Hi,

I am trying to troubleshoot a problem with PowerPoint 2003 and a Xerox
DocuCentre 470ST. I am unable to get the Xerox printer to print any
PowerPoint 2003 documents. It will print Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and
other documents. When I send a print request it wont print anything. If I
look at the completed jobs list on the Xerox it does show as being completed.
I am using the PS driver. If I use the PCL driver it will print. I can
also print PowerPoint 2003 documents to other printers on our network and
other Xerox models, but not the 470 ST. I have also tried different versions
of PP and they work. Thoughts???

Thanks,

Sounds to me very much like an issue with the PostScript driver. Have you
contacted Xerox?

Most PS printers and/or PS drivers have an option to print an error page rather
than just silently aborting a print job. See if you have this option available
and enable it if so. Note that if the print job's set for multiple copies, you
may get multiple copies of the error page.

Is this printer connected the same way as others on the network (ie, direct
ethernet/USB/Parallel, etc) and are you test printing the same PPT presentation
from the same computer to the other network printers? If not, try that; the
point being to eliminate as many variables as possible and/or isolate the
differences that makes one print and the other not.

Are there images in EPS format in the presentations that won't print? If so,
are they binary or ascii EPS? If you can't tell, eliminate them from a test
file and see if it prints.

As a workaround while you're chasing this down, you can probably make a PDF from
the PPT and print from that to the Xerox printer.
