PowerPoint 2003 keeps freezing

Every time I create a New PowerPoint file the application keeps freezing on
me and I have to end it from the task manager. I restarted my machine and
ensure the only application running was PowerPoint and it keeps doing the
same thing.

What can I do to remedy the problem?
