Powerpoint 2002 not backward compatible with PPT 2000

I have read in the newsgroups that 2002/XP PPT is backward compatible
but we have had problems with multiple clients. I create simple (no
animations or passwords) ppt files in office 2000 sp1 (english
version). I send them (I don't think they are getting corrupted by
mail since this occurs everytime) to users with office 2002 in french
with PPT and when they try to open either file freezes, or they can
open it but can't edit it, or can print by right mouse clicking in
explorer. The language issue didn't occur to me until writing this
post but I would be surprised. These PPT are the simplest files ever,
straight text, no orgs or other inserts. pls advise. thanks.

There is an issue with some objects in some slides created with previous
versions of PPT -- these files sometimes cannot be opened in PPT 2002,
it seems. We're hoping that's resolved very soon. Keep your eyes out
here -- I'm sure it will be announced when it is.
