Power Supply Problem ?

I am having a large number of different types of crashes and someone
suggested that it could be a power supply problem.

Is a 250 watt supply enough to drive the following ?

Win xp
AMD 1700+ 1.4gigg
512Mb ram
Geforce 2 graphics card
CD writer
DVD player
2 * hard drives
modem
Force feedback joystick

Any help please

It could be marginal, particularly if the PSU is becoming
weak with age or hot with dirt clogging the fans.

I would also say YES. Your powersupply is on the low side since you have an
AMD with 4 drives (total). Also, the force feedback joystick may also draw
power from it. I would start looking at a 350 watt (or greater) unit, if
you may be planning to do any drive/USB upgrades.

As the other posters have already indicated, the 250 watt power supply is
marginal for your setup. I suggest at least 350 watts, and Antec is a very
reliable brand at reasonable cost.
