Power scheme/printing?

We have three XP computers networked together for printing purposes. One (with our ancient HP DesignJet 220) has the monitor set to turn off after 20 minutes to save energy. Could this cause problems with documents spooling, but not printing? Once I woke up the computer and we re-sent the plot, all was well. Just curious as to whether the power scheme for the monitor can affect printing. Thanks!
