I wanna start using power saving cuz my electricity bills are high and pc up
almost 24/7.
What stops me is i dont know how exactly it works, there is "turn off hard
drives" option it will turn off hard drives in case pc is idele, but what if
i have P2P program that working and using that hard drive it will still shut
down?

[[Turns off hard disks after a specified period of inactivity. Click the
period of inactivity in the drop-down list.]]

If something is using the hard drive, then the hard drive is not idle. Idle
means not being used. Inactivity means idle.

with P2P program running, hard drive is in use regularly.
not a good idea to power it down and back up so frequently.

if you allow computer to go to sleep, the P2P will quit working.

about the only thing you can shut down would be monitor.
turn off your external devices, like printer, etc......

Mandraker,

the power saving options won't make a difference on your electricity bills.
These are rather features for a laptop in order to save a little battery
power. If you still have an old CRT monitor, turning that off will save the
most power. Any components in the pc consume too little. Try to turn off
TVs, heaters, irons, air conditioners and stuff like that instead. They
really consume power...
