Hi,

I left my Dell Dimension 8400 on overnight. When I came back to it it
looked like it was in power-save mode (monitor off and amber light on
front of machine.) I tried the keyboard and mouse but no response, when
I try switching the machine off it just goes back to the same state,
and using keyboard or mouse has no effect. What can I do to fix this?

Hi,

Do you see the system POST or Dell splash screen when booting?
Do you see the 'Windows is loading' screen?

If you see them, use the F8 key immediately between the two events to get
the boot menu. From there choose the 'last known good configuration' and see
if that works.

Unfortunately the monitor does not even power on so I don't think it's
even get to the POST stage :-(

Hi,

Then you may have a motherboard failure, or possibly a video card failure.
Either way, you probably will need a technician at this point.
