Power point Projecter

The screen on my laptop goes blank when I connect to the projector - how do I
get the sceeen to switch on so I can see presentation on the laptop as well
as the projector?

on most laptops there a "magic key combination" that you have to press

Fn - F5 or similar (depends on laptop)

beyond the key combo mentioned by TAJ, try checking the display settings.
there should be 2 boxes in the "preview". if there is then you need to enable
the second display. you should also see if it is a nvidia or ATI display
adapter. if you cant tell who made the video chips in the laptop then you
need to install the video drivers and then you will have even more options as
to how the laptop sets up the displays.

with out knowing your lap top and the video set up there isnt much more i
can say about what to set.
