Power Point Pictures

I downloaded pictures (Power Point Pictures) from a Web Site, & would like to
use one of them as my desktop picture. How do I proceed? At the moment I can
only use the pictures as a slide show, there is no other options since it is
a Power Point download. I would really appreciate your help.

Hi,

The following solution might only apply if you have the PowerPoint program
installed.
Try right clicking the .pps file and see if you have the option "New". If
so, choose that then select the picture you want from the right of the
screen.

Hi Colin,

Thank you for answering my question, but it didn't work. I don't have the
option "New". Any other suggestions?

Hi again,

Afraid not, it's as I thought, you would need to have the Powerpoint
application installed in order to access the individual pictures. If you know
someone who has Powerpoint installed then you could email your file to them
and ask them to extract the picture you want and email it back to you. That I
know will work as I've done it before.

Exactly what type of "PowerPoint Pictures" do you have. PowerPoint is not a
program that creates pictures but a series of slides used as a presentation
on a computer.

Let me know what the file extension is for the file. (Start Windows
Explorer, locate the file and let me know the file name and extension. If
you do not have view extensions turned on do so by clicking on the Tools
tab, then Folder Options at the bottom of the dropdown. Click on View then
click to turn off the Hide extensions for known file types.

After rereading your original post: If this is a PowerPoint show you can
"capture" each individual slide as a JPG, WMF or BMP file IF you have
PowerPoint or another program that will read PowerPoint files. One free
program is Open Office which can be downloaded from www.OpenOffice.org.

With PowerPoint find the slide you want to save as a bitmap file. Click on
File, Save As and then in the file type box select the BMP file type. After
clicking on OK you will get another box "Do you want to export....." Select
Current Slide Only and the slide will be exported as a BMP file. Copy it to
the Windows Directory and then use it as an image to be imported as your
Desktop.

If you have Open Office open the PPT file in the Impress portion of the
program. Find the slide you want to save. Click on File, Export and then
select the BMP file type. This program will only save the current slide as
an image. Use the defaults and save it then move it to the Windows Folder.
