Power Point can't read the file

I try opening a PP presentation & get the following response: Power Point
can't read (filename\destination). I used knowledge base suggestions,
troubleshooting PP presentations all to no avail. Is there any utility out
there to fix corrupt PP files???

Do you happen to be using Norton Anti-Virus?
If so, try disabling Norton's Office Plug-in:

Otherwise, update your PowerPoint to the latest service pack (Click Help >
Check for updates). Also, check this out:

I am using Symantec Antivirus. I excluded the ppt extension, also tried the
PP recovery tool. Closest help was recovery tool with "Active X can't create
the job". I click on "OK" and the presentation opens with pictures on top of
each other & much text/garbled.
