Power Option Properties

What are the best settings for Power Option Properties, including
Power Schemes that would turn off the monitor and hard disks after 15
minutes? Thanks,

Schemes are just pre-configured settings for particular types of PCs.
If your system is a desktop, then Home/Office would be the choice
and then set the timer values to your preferred timeouts.

When I try to set to Home/Office, I get a message:

"Indicates two revision levels are incompatible"

How would I correct that?

I'm speculating here, but the schemes may be triggered from
the HAL type loaded when XP is installed. Open Device Mgr
and check the Computer category. (Click +). See if your PC
is defined as ACPI compliant PC. Power settings are dependant
on the Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) that XP is using.
Power can be affected by the Setup options in BIOS for Power.

Are you able to select any other items from Schemes, that do not
present an error message ?

Only "Max Battery" scheme is accepted. How do I get to Device Mgr.? I
used to know but don't recall.

Control Panel and display.
Click the screensavers tab and you will see monitor power at the bottom.
Click the power button and change or customise there.

Are you sure that nothing is running as that would stop the hdd powering
down.
