Machine: Dell Inspiron 5160, Win XP SP 2, all updates.
I have reset the default power mgmt schemes per KB# 913622 using powercfg
/RestoreDefaultPolicies. All default policies are in place and numbered 0-5
in the registry.
I have tried to see if any programs are running that would keep Windows
active, like Outlook checking for new messages every x minutes.
The screen goes blank, but will not go into standby or hibernate even if set
for as short as 15 minutes.
I tried logging off and leaving the computer there, but after 8+ hours, I
found it still on (screen off though), so I doubt any of my running apps are
the issue.
Any way to narrow down, diagnose or reset APM so it works properly?
Thanks,
Tom Scott
