power cut - reinstall XP Home

After a catastrophic power cut, my neighbours machine has
died big time. I built it for him a couple of years ago
with a legit copy of XP home - trouble is he has lost the
Product Key number.
How can I get a new Product Key - or recover the old one
(assuming I can get the hard drive to spin up)?
